The ferry to Peaks comes and goes, as always, carrying more people and memories than ever before.

I have lived here for 26 years, and continue to marvel at the beauty. I document the boats, the reflections, the ever changing light, and they inform my personal work and my illustration.

The 15th Annual Color and Pages of Peaks event held at the TEIA on Friday night was that kind of island gathering that reminds everyone what a shiny rock we share.

I had spent the weeks prior preparing work for sale. I made this petite pastel titled Marsh Spirit and Marty placed it in a vintage frame.

Meanwhile, Daisy set up a studio spot in the corner of the dining room, and did three exquisite gouache paintings on birch panels.

I had giclee prints made of pastels such as these classics, featuring boats and island seascapes.

The Color and Pages of Peaks is a collective effort by TEIA volunteers who sort, hang, sell, and bring in refreshments for a totally priceless island vibe.

Here my framed Dory hangs below a driftwood sculpture by Barbara Carter.

How blessed I was to be seated next to these island authors, Eleanor Morse and Beth Rand.

It’s fun to meet summer folks who recognize Peaks within the pages of my picture books.

A portion of the proceeds benefits Kids Camperships provided by the Friends of the TEIA.

And the fun never stops. Tomorrow I am attending an Illustration Institute workshop at the Fifth Maine led by award-winning author/illustrator Gregory Christie. On Thursday, I will be visiting the Graves Memorial Library in Kennebunk for a summer reading program with Ana and the Sea Star.

This island life keeps me grateful for the colorful community where I belong. Thanks to the TEIA for a marvelous event!
