I received the sweetest Mother’s Day card from my daughter, this watercolor of a humpback floating among flower petals. She knows as well as anybody I have whales on the brain. We were in Boston for my nephew’s graduation, and shared delicious time with family.

A little rain didn’t dampen our spirits in the least. Let a smile be your umbrella.

My daughter also took some lovely photos in the Public Gardens.

Upon returning home, it was back to the drawing table, working on a migration game for my upcoming book launch for Here Come the Humpbacks! at the Portland Public Library on June 1. It’s a story all about a mother whale and her calf making the long trek up to the Gulf of Maine. Daisy posed for this illustration for the Whale Watch station.
