This is a super duper first: I have 3 new books recently published!
They are written by different authors, and have very different stories to tell. BUT, they have a few things in common, besides featuring my work:
Each book has lots of blue on the cover, yup! And there is water involved. And the moon plays a part in every story.
Here’s a list of bookish events coming up:
June 27 at 10 AM
Rockland, Maine
Author of ISLAND BIRTHDAY, Eva Murray, and I will have our first book event together. Two islanders’ ferry schedules converge, watch out. Eva will read and I will draw.
I was at Hello Hello Books recently, mentally swimming beneath this jellyfishy critter.
In a scene from ISLAND BIRTHDAY, island boys swim in phosphorescence for fun. Say that fast 7 times.
July 1 – September 25
The Storybook Waters of Illustrator Jamie Hogan
Children’s Room at the Portland Public Library’s Main Branch, see hours HERE.
I’ll be exhibiting original illustrations from several of my children’s books.
July 9 from 5 – 7 PM
At the exhibit opening I will talk about my inspirations and process. My fingers are crossed that Eva Murray with be there, too!
July 10, 6 PM
Color and Pages of Peaks
I’m joining an esteemed crowd of Peaks authors and artists at this annual fundraiser for summer camperships. You can check ferry times HERE. I will have books for sale as well as art.
July 23, 1 – 2 PM
Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library
Kennebunkport, Maine
For their “Every Hero Has a Story” Summer Reading Program, I’ll be reading from JOHN MUIR WRESTLES A WATERFALL and leading a drawing activity with kids.
John Muir just had to be close to Yosemite Falls one moonlit night in 1817. Author Julie Danneberg’s non-fiction prose was an adventure to draw in colored pencil.
August 22, 1 – 4 PM
Camden, Maine
As part of their 10th annual Book Fair by the Sea, Eva Murray and I will pair up again with ISLAND BIRTHDAY, along with a cast of other book creators. Not to be missed!
You can tell from this photo of a recent moonrise where I get my blues. I hope I’ll see you somewhere, somehow this summer. Meanwhile, keep looking up!
Congratulations!! So beautiful!
