Now that it’s only 15 degrees out, I can share my hot- off- the- press Land of Knit prints. They are currently hanging at Knit Wit Yarn Shop in Portland, Maine, which I sketched for my 2013 Sketchbook Project, above.

Dare I confess I’m not a knitter? I learned long ago, but left needles for pencils sometime in middle school. I’ve happily illustrated several knitting books though, including this title by Stephanie Pearl McPhee.

It’s chock full of spot illustrations like these.

knitboat-blogA fan called out of the blue to inquire about the map on the cover. This led to creating a new Land of Knit map, full of destinations for an intrepid knitter.

knitmap_blogMy neighbors might recognize the Isle of Ewe looking mighty familiar. In fact, fellow Peaks Islander, Suzie vonReyn, owner of Knit Wit, offered her shop wall, which spurred this yarn brain cameo.

yarnbrain_blogI looked through my stash of illustrations for the Casts Off book and spotted this alpaca.

woollymix_blogWhy not add a couple of prints from my art in  Ice Harbor Mittens by Robin Hansen?

They’re hanging like fresh laundry in this photo by Elizabeth Smith.

Thanks to Suzie for sharing her shop wall!

I’ll be at Knit Wit this Saturday during the East End Stroll, from 1 – 3 PM. Stop in for something sweet and say hello. I’ll bring my pencils and you bring your needles!

  2. It looks great Jaimie! I wish I could have visited with you at the Knit Wits Yarn Shop in Maine. I hope the knitters who saw the map were as enthralled as I am.

  3. Is it still possible to purchase a copy of the Land of Knit poster? I just discover Knit Wit in Portland this past weekend, as well as this amazing poster! I’d love to buy a copy!
